Parent Involvement

As a parent-participant preschool, parents are required to share in the responsibilities of a well-supervised environment by taking part on duty-days.

Additional responsibilities for some include volunteer jobs such as fundraising, scholastic books, laundry and field trips. There are also Executive Board positions.

Breakfast with Santa
Once a year our school runs a great  fundraising event with the support of local businesses. All families contribute to the success of this yearly event, where the cooperative spirit is at its best, and our sense of community is celebrated.

Duty Parents

Duty-parents assist the teacher with daily activities. At the end of class, duty-parents assist with the sanitation process and are responsible to tidy up and maintain a safe and sanitary preschool. All parents who help in the classroom must provide a Vulnerable Sector  police check and be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR.

During COVID-19 pandemic, the role of duty parents has been redefined as environmental staff, supporting the smooth running of the morning program, responsible sanitation of toys and spaces.

Duty Days

Duty parents are required to participate a minimum of 2 Duty days every 4-weeks. In the case of having more than 1 child attending the program, it will be required a minimum of 3 duty days. Duty parents participation in classroom activities will take place during Free Play time, as part of their daily responsibilities outline in our Duty Daily Task Schedule.

Duty-day responsibility can be shared by parents, grandparents or caregivers if arranged with the school. And if there are months when duty attendance is not possible, there is allowance for non-participation by paying additional monthly fee instead of helping out during duty days.

Meetings

Parents meet 4 times a year as a group with the teachers and board to discuss the program and to provide input.

Direct parent involvement ensures the school to be a rewarding and wholesome facility for our children, while allowing parents to actively contribute to their child's learning experience.
